Clarisa Merkatz
Clarisa currently works on an initiative with fellow alumna Jennifer Lu (SDSE 2017) that provides items to homeless shelters in the Boston area. Created Just Like Home helps facilitate the transition of people from shelters into their own homes. Clarisa and Jennifer communicate with local shelters to determine what items are in demand, and they organize fundraisers to raise money and purchase high-demand items for donation.

“I want to be an Automotive Engineer, design and build a completely green car that would bear zero adverse effects on the environment or the users and is equally autonomous. I also want to be a philantropist and make a lasting impact in several poverty striken communities around the world as well as sponsor the education of thousands of students who struggle with finances. In summary, I desire more than anything to help a lot of people - especially those suffering - and solve many global problems.

“My goal is to study Politics, Ethics, Law, and Economics in my undergraduate studies. I hope to use the knowledge and tools I acquire from these studies to guide and aide me on a trajectory into International Human Rights Law. It’s always been a passion of mine to advocate for people who don’t have the privilege of having a voice (in their communities, government, and/or society in general) so I believe that I can do this through a career in International Human Rights Law.”
