“Despite going to an international school, I have never been in an environment where so many people from so many nationalities congregated to simply learn together and inspire each other. It was fascinating for me to meet people from all around the world and learn about their country’s culture and traditions.”

I am working with a few of my peers to organize a TEDx Conference at my school, which will feature exclusively student speakers. TEDx is not a new event for my school; we have held many TEDx conferences featuring mostly adult speakers, the majority of whom presented on their profession or an organization they represented. However, there were always a few student presenters each year, and I personally better connected to the topic my peers spoke about.

When I attended YYGS, I was awed by the inspiration I felt from seeing my peers share their experiences during the Speaker Series. This pushed me over the edge; I was now determined to rebrand TEDxAAS to create an event for students of all nationalities to speak about their passions, experiences, and aspirations.

Personally, I am extremely excited for the event to debut. If all goes as planned, our speakers will be prepared and confident, will share relatable, relevant content, and will inspire the audience to do the same in future years. My final hope for this initiative is that it remains an event run by students, for students, and continues to serve as a platform for teenagers to share their passions in front of the student body for years to come.
