“One of my favorite seminars simply posed the question: How we should allocate liabilities for ransomware attacks and data breaches? We ended up taking the entire time of the seminar debating different theories and possibilities and their implications for future technological advancements. This became an educational experience that opened my eyes to the correlation between technology and federal policy.”

I have been the president of World Language Honors Society since my freshman year of high school. The club’s purpose is to tutor students who need any help with their language, whether it be pertaining to grammar, culture, presentations, etc. Since attending YYGS, I have been heavily motivated to do more because of the passion and drive that grew within me due to the excellency that this program provided and exposed to me. Being a Global Scholar at Yale also confirmed my beliefs of the importance of cognizance in society, and knowing how to communicate and express one’s self with others to solve global issues.

I wanted to expand the club’s horizons and reach out to as many people as possible. Thus, I have made several additions and improvements to the club. I have established different classrooms based on the language rather than simply having one classroom for all languages (e.g. Spanish = M9, French = M1, Chinese = M4). I have also recruited twelve tutors to ensure that no student will be left without anyone to help them on a given day. Additionally, with the help and approval of the director of the language department, I have created a designed shirt for the club, as well as increased marketing through the promotion of the club on our school website. I have even established social media for the club . Such developments have increased the recognition and use of this club’s services, and its contributions are very evident.
