“My favorite lecture was “Robots that Teach”, because as being someone who is deeply fascinated with Artificial Intelligence and robots, I felt this lecture served as an eye-opener to just how vast the implications of technology can be. The guided tour that I attended in the Social Robotics Lab where I had the chance to witness the forefront of robotics and talk with experts (including Professor Brian Scassellati) only deepened my love for this field.”

Soon after my return from the fantastic YYGS experience, I approached my dad, seeking to understand how the work flows in the IT sector of the company he works in. My project was to implement a lab infrastructure in the company. This was an incredibly interesting experience for two reasons, first being that I was able to use open source technology to acquire information from various sources from the World Wide Web, and second being that the company wanted to reduce electronic wastes and optimize its hardware resources. Helping reduce electronic wastes, a major environmental hazard, was a fulfilling experience for me.

At present, I am configuring servers and storages. This involves preparing the servers, placing on racks and doing cable work to connect to the Uplink switches. Cent OS 7.x is being installed on these servers. The next task would be to configure the Management Tools for managing the virtual machines in this private cloud.

I am thrilled about this project as it has made me expand my horizons in the field of technology, while also being something that can be a positive contribution towards society.
