“The evening was easily my favorite part of the day because of the Capstone Project. I remember that our capstone leaders Mpho and Madeline always, without fail, radiated with good energy after each long day. Their icebreakers and games were creative, fun, and legitimately productive. I borrow some of their ideas for when I lead activities in my dorm. There at Capstone, I met a great group of people that I still talk to today.”

Playing the guitar is my serious hobby. Initially, I started out playing classically styled guitar. But as we know, the guitar is used in so many types of music. Since the classical guitar uses nylon strings, it was natural for me to try to jazz and flamenco. With my teacher, I’m able to learn from his jazz experience. On my own time, I learn flamenco. From flamenco, you get to hear the authentic Spanish sound that I personally fell in love with. Classical guitar’s beauty of a controlled and practiced temperament differs from flamenco’s free and improvised nature. The rapid hand and wrist movements provide a different type of immersive experience for both me and the audience. It’s my goal to share this style, as well as other styles, of the guitar.
