YYGS gave me exactly what I put in. What I mean is that the YYGS experience requires the scholar’s utmost participation and attention at all times to gain the most out of the program. For me, this was establishing an accepting presence amongst my peers during the family time and simulation sessions, and in turn, I was able to learn about the different cultures and ethnicities that make up this enriching planet.

My YYGS simulation group developed the idea of a teen-run global health initiative as our simulation project for YYGS. The basis of the organization would be to provide teenagers and aspiring young adults with all overall health needs, whether that being physical, mental, emotional, etc. The service would come in the form of regular publications written and edited entirely by teenagers themselves (as studies have shown that receiving help from a first-person source heeds more impactful results). The articles published are entirely fact-checked by reliable news sources but are written with a personal touch of the author, in which they are encouraged to add their tips and opinions to help the readers.

Currently, the initiative is still in the early developmental stages with a prototype website and a team of fellow peers at my high school to help build on the idea. Once operations commence, I will be sure to notify YYGS as it will always be given the title in my eyes as the birthplace of a new era of teen voice and advisory.
