“YYGS has captured the attention and imagination of high school scholars around the world like me, and I will be forever grateful for this rich experience.”

As the president of the environmental club at my school, I have begun networking with the CLEO Institute, a non-profit that works hand in hand with youth activists in Miami to educate and promote an informed and engaged public that supports climate action everywhere. The new GenCLEO empowerment movement engages and empowers high school and college students, as well as young professionals, to take climate action.

Thanks to CLEO, my school will be launching the Climate Leadership Informational Program (CLIP), where certified speakers like myself are able to teach their younger peers about the science of climate change, impacts, and solutions. The purpose of this program is to empower students to become climate ambassadors and help them educate others, even if it takes one person at a time so that together we can focus on mobilizing solutions to help mitigate the crisis. However, this is only the beginning of our work. I realize that like grains of rice, singularly, we might seem insignificant. As such, when we all come together, we can feed a whole village and make a great difference.
