PLE II 2021

I remember one seminar best. It was on the nature of happiness. We discussed excerpts from Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. We were able to learn about these classical perspectives of happiness and apply our own experiences and knowledge to them.

Coming back to school after my YYGS summer experience, I expanded my leadership role in my high school philosophy club and in Model United Nations (MUN). As a junior, I was slated to co-lead the club with a senior. Since my co-leader is quite busy, I stepped up to lead the recruiting at the club fair and elsewhere, seeking out members who will be positive contributors to the group. My favorite part of the role is leading the philosophy discussion during every other meeting. I also took on a leadership role in running MUN for middle school students. As an experienced MUN delegate in high school, I was happy to share some of my knowledge with middle school students. Together with my fellow delegates, I created a marketing video to help the middle students get a better idea of what they are signing up for. I plan many of the sessions, outline the tasks, give examples, and provide feedback to the students as they work through the process of preparing for a MUN conference.
