The biggest acquisition during those weeks at YYGS would be the gain of perspective. I have grown to reflect on myself and understand other people’s points of view whether it would be discrimination in the Western world or other serious matters.
One of my most memorable accomplishments is when our organization POC AURA (People of Color) initiated a full week of activities which we called Visibility Week. Established in 2020, my organization aims to improve inclusion and community at our high school. During Visibility Week, I wanted to highlight and bring awareness to the discrimination that POC endures in Sweden and worldwide. I hope to contribute to the preventive work and encourage others to reflect on what reality looks like for many students at our school and around the world.
