“My favorite lecture was Professor Shelly Kagan’s lecture about the Trolly Problem. I was even fortunate enough to have been selected for a Special Meal with him. I found this lecture the most thought-provoking. I was captivated while trying to find a compromise to the unanswerable riddle, and often still question if there is a plausible solution. I especially liked how Professor Kagan made it relevant by updating the trolley with an electric car [scenario].”

Creating a strong base of health literacy at a young age is crucial for people to understand their rights as patients and advocate for themselves. I pursue medical interests in school through the Medical Club, which I co-founded and hold the position of Co-president. In addition to pursuing medicine in school, I shadow Dr. Robert A. Brautigan, a general surgeon and president of the medical staff at Clara Maass Medical Center. This eye-opening experience and the YYGS program have made me realize that I would like to major in philosophy while fulfilling pre-med requirements.
