SDSE 2019

“Everything at YYGS was wonderful and special. However, my favorite part was having the honor of attending the Speaker Series! The feeling of being able to talk about my trip to North Korea to all those young people from different backgrounds was something that I will remember for the rest of my life. Also, it was great to hear the other participants talking about issues from their own perspective.”

In my city, I always noticed that there were several homeless people. Every time I went to my school, I saw these homeless people living in very sad conditions. Because of this, my family and I were looking for some organization in Brazil that could help these people and improve their current condition. This is how we found Missão Vida (Life Mission). This project focuses on offering housing and everything else the homeless need to have a life of dignity. Doctors, cooks and all kinds of assistance are available to the people who are living there. Also, in this establishment, people will learn some kind of craft, such as ceramics or joinery in order to return to the job market. In fact, many of the people currently working on Missão Vida are people who have left their lives on the streets. So, my family and I presented the idea in 2018 to the mayor of my city, and fortunately the mayor accepted the project! In November 2019, the place began to operate and to receive the first homeless. Below are some photos while the buildings were taking place and then at the opening!
