“YYGS made me realize that I can do something almost impossible within my reality as black, gay and Brazilian. This program changed my life forever and now I’m more prepared and confident for the much bigger challenges that are coming in my life. Today, I feel safe and confident to confront what I see wrong in my society and thus face reality and be part of the change I desire.”

Quoting Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world .”

I decided to create an English teaching curriculum for low-income youth and public schools students, since many Brazilian teaching institutions do not teach foreign language classes with depth and clarity.

Currently, I teach university entrance exams to students in three public schools. I also teach English to relatives who seek better qualifications to reintegrate into the labor market.

I teach all my classes at no cost because I believe that basic education should always be free and high quality for everyone independent of race, sex and sexual orientation. Education is not social divider but a factor that unites people for the good of all.
