“It was when I left that I realized the most important thing YYGS left me was the experience of learning, not only through instructors, but also through my own awareness the world and sharing my story with other people.”

I am currently working with a student group at my school called Roads, which develops leaders by raising awareness of the importance of decision-making. The decisions we make today are what defines us as an individual in the future. I believe that decision-making, especially in younger generations, is such an important topic because in such a fast-paced society we need to learn to choose what will help us in the future, not what will make us fit-in now.

I am working with seven other people to develop this idea. We have an event this semester, where around 300 students from eight Monterrey high schools will participate in different activities and take home the message we try to share. Next semester, we will be hosting another event for around 350 junior high school students from our city, in which we try to convey the same message. During both semesters, we engage with our community by visiting orphanages or hospitals, and try to give back to our community, which has helped us in various ways.

Next year I will apply to be  the president of this student group, and my vision is to expand Roads in our community, so we can have a more direct impact on our society.
