“The most memorable thing for me was the new connections that I was able to make with many people from different parts of the world. This made me more of a global citizen, understanding different cultures, and how those cultures have shaped different individuals to build up their identities.”

After YYGS, I went to Baltimore to research the following topic: “To what extent are Black Americans discriminated against by the police in the city of Baltimore?” I was motivated to do this research because I have read a lot of newspaper articles on police violence against Blacks in Baltimore, and I wanted to do my IB research paper on something that I am eager to research.

I interviewed Lieutenants, Patrol Officers, Police dispatchers, residents of Baltimore in Pig Town, Cherry Hill, and many other parts of the city. I also interviewed a victim of police violence in Baltimore. I am now in my final year at United World College in Mostar, finishing my research paper and applying for university in the United States of America.
