I’ve had my GIRLSGIRLSGIRLS YouTube Channel for a bit more than a year now (it officially launched last June) and it’s become a really big part of my life since then! My mom, who is an amazing entrepreneur, strong feminist, and my biggest inspiration, was one of the driving motivators of my initiative. As a high school student still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do in the future, I was given the idea by my mum to talk to some older girls and women to hopefully get some ideas for myself. I knew that there were definitely other high school girls going through the same dilemmas I was (especially prominent in my all-girls school environment), so what better way to share the knowledge than through one of the most used online platforms by teenagers! Since my first video with my school archery coach (who is the retired six-time Olympic coach for Team Canada), I have over 15 episodes featuring amazing women I’ve contacted or been introduced to, all sharing their story. I do the interviews alone, but all my friends are super supportive (they’re always the first likers and commenters). My channel has been a bit more momentum lately! I will be featured in the upcoming Women of Influence Fall 2019 issue in the Rise of Girls article and I just hit 140 subscribers! So, needless to say, this has been an ongoing initiative that is incredibly important to me and I can’t wait to grow and see what the future holds.
