“My favorite seminar was Resolving International Disputes: World Court and Beyond because although it was similar to a lecture/discussion based class, we did a mini mock trial session using the “Aerial Herbicide Spraying” case! It was so fascinating seeing how the entire international court system worked in a small, short scenario played by the class.”

Since leaving YYGS in 2018, I have been a leader of several clubs in my high school including Model United Nations and UNICEF. My accomplishments in high school, such as receiving the Principal Scholars award three years in a role, has led me to become an Illinois Promise Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign! This scholarship is a full ride to the university. As I am almost finished with my first semester in college, I have managed to become an organizer for Illini Democrats where we have worked on several campaigns and initiatives, such as Betsy Dirksen’s campaign for Illinois District 13, and other voter mobilization efforts around campus. Moreover, we have been working with climate change advocates on campus to petition the University to divest from the fossil fuel industry and to help our planet. We have been meeting with several Illinois representatives, including Senator Dick Durbin, to address these issues. I hope to continue my effort to mobilize voters and advocate to end climate change.
