SGC 2021

YYGS achieved to exceed all of the expectations that I had on this program. Since the beginning of YYGS, I challenged myself to try and do things out of my comfort zone, for example, I chose the seminar, The Psychology of Social Inequality. This is something that I wouldn’t usually choose however it is something that is really interesting to me. This seminar ended up being my favorite, every lesson and discussion that we had was so engaging. Because of this seminar, I ended up enrolling in a psychology class in my high school, which I ended up applying my knowledge from the program to my class.

At the end of this program, it made me want to create something innovative in my community. When I entered high school something that I looked forward to was being involved in clubs, however, there wasn’t a reading club which is something that I am really passionate about. It never occurred to me that I could create my own club in high school.

I invited a few people to make a team to help me organize all of the activities and we decided to name the club Book Talk. This is the first year with the book club, and my team and I have gathered 66 other participants. We have been reading books from different genres and have had amazing discussions.
