I learned so much at YYGS, and even though I was already pretty familiar with most of the topics of the lectures I attended, the way the professors talked about them encouraged me to think deeper, and I gained a new understanding for the issues they talked about.
I met Sara Quintero at YYGS when we were in the same Family Group, and a couple months ago we decided to start a podcast called What’s Going On? Today’s Politics Explained. She had told me about the podcast about COVID that she started with her cousin, and I loved the idea of having a simple, straightforward podcast geared towards people our age that was short and informative, and helped them understand the complexities and nuances of important issues. After YYGS ended, I asked if she’d be interested in starting a political podcast together. We’ve done two episodes so far, about Joe Biden’s economic agenda and upcoming Supreme Court cases, and we’re about to record our third one about the Filibuster. We’ve gotten over 100 downloads across 9 countries, and are listed on Amazon Music and Spotify. We are both very excited about the future of our podcast, and the potential it has to help inform people our age in a way that is vital for our democracy.
