Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is excited to announce that nearly 20 past participants will return as YYGS instructors and residential life staff during this summer’s program, which will take place at Benjamin Murray and Pauli Franklin Colleges.
The following alumni instructors attended YYGS between 2018-2024, representing different academic pursuits at a variety of colleges and universities. YYGS is thrilled to invite alumni back to the program in these expanded leadership roles.
Cami | YYGS 2023 (SGC) | Instructor
- Studying political science at Williams College.
- “My favorite memory from YYGS was Program Manager Shu Yi Zhou’s speech about fitting in versus belonging. Her words resonated with me in a quiet but lasting way. I found myself thinking about them later during moments of change. “
Angela | YYGS 2023 (PLE) | Instructor
- Studying ethnicity and race studies (and history) at Columbia University.
- “I look back so fondly on the bonding experiences I had in Family Time. I am still close with the friends I made in my family today! It is so special to be able to keep up late-night chats with the same people I would go on lunchtime ice cream runs or tells stories in HQ07 all these years later.”

Salaar | YYGS 2023 (LPC) | Instructor
- Studying environmental policy and global studies at Colby College.
- “I really loved getting together with my family group, playing mafia together, and having a support system that followed me even after the program ended.”
Charnice | YYGS 2019 (ASE) | Instructor
- Yale graduate now studying teaching at Relay Graduation School of Education.
- “As a high school student, I was captivated by the undergraduate and graduate research showcased at YYGS, which sparked my own journey into interdisciplinary inquiry. Standing there as a graduate student and 2025 YYGS instructor, sharing my work, I felt both the weight of that inspiration and the joy of passing it forward to the next generation of global scholars.”
Anushka | YYGS 2023 (IST) | Instructor
- Studying materials science and engineering (and Asian American studies and design) at Northwestern University.
- “My favorite memory from YYGS was meeting people from so many different backgrounds and learning about their passions. Meeting people in dining halls, dorms, and seminars and finding similarities and differences in our lives and experiences was deeply inspiring.”
Nathan | YYGS 2024 (IST) | Instructor
- Studying computer science, math and data science at Minerva University.
- “My favorite memories from YYGS were the conversations, being exposed to so many different topics and getting to explore them with people from all over the world. But equally memorable were the moments in between, from karaoke to all the games we played during Family Time, which made the whole experience feel like home.”
Anne | YYGS 2022 (SGC) | Instructor
- Studying nursing at Grambling State University.
- “One of my favorite memories from YYGS was engaging in meaningful discussions during Family Time with peers from around the world, where we exchanged perspectives on global challenges and built connections that have lasted beyond the program.”
Liam | YYGS 2023 (SGC) | Residential Life

Faith | YYGS 2024 (PLE) | Residential Life

- “One of my favorite YYGS memories was exploring Yale’s many beautiful libraries and finding some of the quieter, less obvious spaces in Sterling Memorial Library. I especially liked the Egyptian Reading Room, and I also came across the “stacks,” which is both revered and dreaded among Yale students since being there usually signals that midterm season is upon us…”
Sahasra | YYGS 2023 (SGC) | Residential Life
