Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) has officially opened its application, inviting high school students from around the world to reside on Yale’s campus while attending two-week academic tracks throughout June and July 2027.
YYGS is one of the most globally diverse, accessible pre-college programs in the world, with students representing over 150 countries, including 50+ U.S. states and territories. Last year the program received over 14,000 applications for nearly 2,000 spots, distributing $3 million USD in need-based financial aid and scholarships to domestic and international students.
During the program, participants will experience life as a university student by attending Yale faculty lectures, engaging in small-scale seminars working with undergraduate and graduate instructors, and forging friendships from across the globe while living on campus. YYGS is excited to announce its return to Yale’s Benjamin Franklin and Pauli Murray residential colleges for 2027.
“We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from students and their families about the new location last summer. The air chilling provided a welcome reprieve and balance alongside our many outdoor recreational activities, while keeping participants within walking distance of downtown New Haven. Our next step is to really amplify everything that these spaces offer while maintaining an engaging, diverse set of academic offerings, and we’re especially focused on further expanding the residential experience next year.” –Zeva Manvi, YYGS Executive Director
In 2027, YYGS is further increasing the number of undergraduate and graduate students hired as instructors, residential fellows, track coordinators, and college leads. As a result, students will have added access to near-peer mentoring and an even broader range of seminar offerings and residential life activities, including new weekend events.
“The YYGS Residential and Academics Teams are grateful to continue partnering with our colleagues at Yale’s labs, museums, and libraries to provide additional exciting opportunities for YYGS students. We’re currently in the middle of planning these new events, and we hope to announce more details soon.” –Angel Madrigal, YYGS Associate Director of Residential Life
