Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is thrilled to extend offers of admission to high school students from over 150 countries, including 50+ U.S. states and territories, for Summer 2026. This year’s new-to-YYGS countries include Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, and Liechtenstein.
YYGS expects a slight increase of nearly 2,000 students this June and July, with students attending one of nine academic sessions. This year’s cohort includes a range of international and U.S. domestic student experiences, with many students holding dual citizenships, attending schools outside their home country, and demonstrating fluency in multiple languages. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with peers from different backgrounds while developing friendships in small group settings.
The program is excited to host students in Pauli Murray and Benjamin Franklin Colleges for the first time this summer. These colleges are more accessible, within walking distance of downtown New Haven, and offer air chilling technology. YYGS staff implemented this change as a response to feedback from alumni students and parents, offering a cooler living environment for participants during their two weeks on campus.
During the program, students will attend a range of academic sessions, including Yale faculty lectures, small-scale seminars, and Capstone group research projects, while discovering local museums, visiting Yale libraries, and exploring the surrounding campus during their free time.
YYGS is proud to be one of the only pre-college programs in the world that provides over $3 million USD in need-based financial aid equally to both domestic and international students. One-third of admitted students (both international and domestic) were offered need-based financial aid, including over 30 scholarships that covered full tuition and travel. The average financial aid award covered over 80% of tuition.
