Position Focus
The Yale Young Global Scholars Program is a high school academic enrichment and leadership development initiative administered by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Reporting to the Director, the Global Scholars Fellow will gain experience in all facets of a fast-growing organization that has more than tripled in size and programming offerings in the past three years. The Fellow is responsible for a wide range of activities including: assisting with crafting a long-term strategic vision for the Yale Young Global Scholars Program through the data analysis of marketing, admissions, and program reviews; coordinating logistics for six two-week YYGS sessions on Yale’s campus during the summer; assisting the leadership team with the administration of the summer program; managing the YYGS summer internship program; coordinating an alumni conference for past YYGS participants; managing communication with prospective applicants through email, phone, and website; reading YYGS applications of high school students from around the world; sitting on the admissions committee and assisting in making admissions decisions.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Data analysis
    • Marketing metrics
    • Participant and instructor surveys
    • Admissions statistics
  • Program coordination and administration
    • Coordinate the annual YYGS alumni conference at Yale
    • Liaise with on-campus partners to arrange logistics for summer programming at Yale
    • Administer the on-campus sessions of YYGS
  • Program communications
    • Manage YYGS inbox and other lines of communication with prospective applicants
    • Design a communications strategy to streamline messaging to targeted audiences
  • Admissions
    • Read applications as a second reader and committee member
    • Sit on the admissions committee and help make admissions decisions, including financial aid awards

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent Yale graduate
  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial
  • Aptitude for numbers and basic-level statistics
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Yale University administration, structure, and organizations
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the summers; fairly regular hours otherwise
