Michelle L. Hutchings is a Global Scholars Fellow for the Yale Young Global Scholars Program. She primarily works with the STEM Project Manager to coordinate YYGS sessions in New Haven. Michelle received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 2010 and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale University in 2016. Her research focused on investigating interesting properties of endophytes, organisms that live asymptomatically within inner plant tissues, and as part of her research, she traveled to the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador to collect endophytic fungi. Before graduate school, she also spent a year as an Americorps member with the Student Conservation Association teaching environmental education and building hiking trails.
